The German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) was formed in the image of and is linked to the famous American equivalent of the same name. Sofia Koller, Research Fellow for The Fight Against Terror and The Extremism Prevention, has published an article on ZEIT in which she outlines Germany’s supposed responsibility for the countries nationals who joined ISIS. It should be clear that she is not just a random voice, but a representative of one of the most influential political think tanks of our time and what she has to say is horrendous.
Yesterday, a Chechenyan pupil beheaded his history teacher. The murderer was taken aback by the presentation of Charlie Hebdo’s Mohammet portrayal. Apparently, he lived in a microcosm where it was unheard of that, first, this picture exists, and, second, that such pictures are totally unoffensive. It points to our larger cultural crisis in which Muslims and non-Muslims alike fall under the omerta du jour.
The events in the city of Halle are still unfolding. Information is rolling in slowly. Everybody, including mainstream newspapers, are already speculating. We know that multiple murderers were involved, at least two grenades were thrown (one landed at the Jewish cemetery, another in a kebab shop), a woman and a man lost their lives and a couple of people got injured.
A Syrian refugee, oops, cough, a Palestinian from Jordan hacked a man to death in the middle of the street. Many witnesses, including children, were present. It comes with a downside. Photos and video footage are circling the internet causing headaches in newsrooms and the halls of power. Is the current legal situation able to punish citizens who show the negative effects of left-wing policies? Should new legislation be introduced? The Federal Department of Justice are already working on it. The Coalition Treaty has a stronger iron fist against unpretty images already scheduled.

Deutschlandfunk on why they don’t want to report
Yesterday, in the city of Frankfurt, a man pushed a woman and her child in front of a train. The eight-year old died. It was not the only murder of its kind and it is a case the media would normally wish to hide: The murderer was from Africa! Why does this case defy the usual media propaganda approach? The reason lies in the propaganda logic itself. We are used to narratives being enhanced with children involvement. When a child is involved in a story at this point, the industry cannot revert cause and sideline it anymore. They fear the “exploitation” by the political right.
