Part I:
In the first segment we talk about the role of arts in the public discourse. The new restrictions of a chaotic class that used to challenge order and has come to perceive itself as the hectoring gatekeepers of the debate. Did postmodernism go from being inspirational to “truth is whatever the authority of the day likes to hear?” What roles do schools play and what roles should they play?
Part II:
Since Gamergate it became clearer that the younger generations react against anti-masculine venom. At the same time the left doubled down. We discuss how the well-monetized pseudo-religion of the good intention industry has run out of purposes and is lashing out now, how they engage in witchhunts against symbols and try to dominate the interpretations of symbols and our reality.
Part III:
The helicopter-parent millennial generation struggles with narcissism and self-hatred. One outlet can be racism towards ones own group, which can take the form of white guilt or BDS. The other outlet is seeking confirmation in ones group and replacing all reasoning (logos) with the dos and don’ts of the peers (ethos). The newfangled religion seeks to replace Christianity, but cannot hold the candle up to it. Is the belief of a society the result of the game of politics, anyway? Is self-hypnosis, the consent to get deluded, the reason why some people really believe it?
